Editorial Policy & Corrections

This policy describes the editorial approach of the current independent website at nbcaugusta.com. It does not describe the practices of a former broadcaster or imply affiliation with NBC.

Identify the kind of article

Historical features, explanatory articles, opinion and sample reconstruction content should be distinguishable. A historical date belongs to the event being discussed; the website’s publication or update date identifies the current page. An older event should not be described as breaking news simply because its explanation is newly published.

Sample articles and illustrations created for the rebuild are labeled. A retained historical URL does not establish that the original report’s text was recovered. Where only a headline or third-party reference survives, the article should say what is known and avoid inventing interviews, quotes, identities or details.

Use sources according to what they establish

Official documents, public records, research and direct statements can support different types of claims. A supplier announcement establishes what a supplier says, while independent verification may require additional evidence. Source links should help readers inspect the relevant material rather than merely point to a general homepage.

We aim to attribute material claims, keep quotations faithful to context and write original explanations. Readers should be told when evidence is incomplete. Background interpretation should remain distinct from an established historical fact.

Digital entertainment and iGaming

The iGaming desk focuses on Slot terminology, product design, technology and player protection. Statistical descriptions such as RTP do not predict an individual session. Articles should avoid guaranteed-win claims or imply that visual patterns can establish the next random outcome. See Responsible Gaming.

Corrections and updates

Send a correction through Contact, including the article URL, disputed statement and supporting evidence. The administrator can assess the source, amend the text and add an explanation of a material correction. Updates should explain a meaningful change where readers would otherwise misunderstand the earlier version. A request alone does not establish that a claim is wrong.

Commercial relationships and contributions

If an article includes a paid placement, sponsorship or affiliate arrangement, that relationship should be disclosed where readers encounter it. Advertising and promotional claims should be identifiable. Submitting a tip or contribution does not create a publication agreement, transfer ownership of an entire work or guarantee acceptance.
